Etched in Stone

1/100: My hands are clenched in fists as I stare at your grave.

They spelt your whole name out, middle initial include. Bet that set them back some. I had no say, not that I wanted to.

But there it is in bold.

Your name. Date of birth, date of death.

Beloved Husband and Father.

May rage flashes through me at those words. Again I had not say, if I had it wouldn’t be those words.

Cheating Husband and Absent Father.

That’s what I’d have had etched in stone.

I wonder what your thoughts were as your car lost control on that curve and broke through the guardrail. Did you think of your children, me. Did you look into your lovers eyes?

As the car crashed, exploded, and you both perished leaving me to deal with all your betrayals.

“I hope she was worth it”, I say, turn and walk away.
